Deck Clearance 30/07 Bus Stop Ad

This is pretty clever hey. The picture is made up of lots of small photos.

Better still, I saw a photo in a photographic shop in Glenferrie Road done the same way. It was a picture of a toddler, made up by all of his baby photos. All his photos made up into a portrait that looked exactly like him.

Sometimes I am glad I live in the age of high tech.

  1. i've always been fascinated by this sort of artwork/photography. The effect is very cool and you can spend ages discovering all the smaller pics.

  3. It is a cool effect, but once upon a time a photo mosaic used to be done by hand, with an artisan carefully selecting, cropping and re-hueing (is that even a word?) the photos. Now there's programs that do it all for you. Still looks super-cool but takes a lot of the magic out of it. Plus Lexus never added my photo to the massive Times Square photo mosaic for the launch of the IS250 a few years ago, so I'm bitter.

  4. Yep Fenz. I was looking at all the tiny photos in the picture of the kid.

Interesting Anon. Makes sense that it can all be done automatically.

Mutant, it rather spoiled my imaginings of someone hand selecting the photos. Now, is Lexus made by Honda? They try to keep it a secret.

  6. Cool photo, I love this effect. Though a few years back there was a controversial art exhibition in London which did a similar thing to build up a photo of one of the UK's most notorious child killers. I couldn't face going to see it myself.

  7. Jackie, I think I vaguely recall that exhibition, well the controversy about it.

  8. Andrew, Lexus is a product of Toyota. Oddly their marketing seems to sway between hiding the fact and freely admiting it. Products like the IS, GS, SC and LS lines don't share anything with cars in Australia, but the ES amd RX ranges line up with the mundane and much cheaper Camry/Aurion and Kluger a little too closely for comfort. Oh, and sorry for spoiling the effect for you!

  9. Anyone I have asked, no one knowledgeable, about Lexus, thought it was a stand alone brand, not related to one of the big ones.
