I was in Glenferrie Road Malvern today. There was a bit of jam up of trams at the Malvern tram Depot and a jam up of traffic too. Not unusual.

Funny how things have changed over the last few decades. It used to be trams that blocked and slowed down traffic. Now it seems to be traffic congestion blocking trams.

I overheard one woman say, who was of an age that she should know better, why on earth did they put a tram depot in such a busy shopping area?

I am not sure when Malvern Tram Depot was built, perhaps around 1910. There wasn't much in the way of shops in Glenferrie Road, Malvern then.

  1. "There wasn't much in the way of shops in Glenferrie Road, Malvern then."

Don't worry. When this recession takes root proper there won't any there again.

  2. She should have known better, yes, Andrew, but was probably too stupid to engage her brain to actually think before opening her gob to whine.

  3. I am amazed that property developers have yet to run the depot right out of that good postcode, to put up lifestyle condos 'in the heart of High Street shopping'.

The shopping sprang up precisely because of the intersecting bloody tram services, doh.

... and there are a lot of really dumb people about, age and sex got nuthin' t do wiv it.
    Yours faithfully,

  4. So far unaffected Brian.

Jayne, I have seen old photos and Glenferrie Road looked quite rural.

They would cut off an arm to get the site FGMS. Saw Brand on tv. Quite amusing.
