Our friend who lives in Japan is in the far north of the island Honshu. The cherry trees bloom very late in her area. It may be tomorrow or the next day before the trees are at their peak, but they are pretty good now.
Have a look at the blooms via the web camera here. I find the Java camera best. You can take control of the camera. The castle looks great lost among the blooms.
I love Cherry blossoms!
ReplyDeleteEven in Syd, during Spring, we get Peach blossoms in the Botanical Gardens..its so pretty!
Keshi.
Lovely. Japan is a very beautiful place - Cherry Blossoms just being one element of its sublimeness.
ReplyDeletei've been to japan three times and seeing the cherry trees blossom is absolutely beautiful
ReplyDeleteespecially in the country side
We had one outside my window when I was a child. Looking up through those glorious blossoms to the sky is one of my enduring childhood memories.
ReplyDeleteI think you posted a pic of it once Keshi?
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful in many parts Reuben. I will go one day.
Probably big cities in daylight may be not so good Kiki.
Nice memory Bliss.
Yes, yes, come to Japan!! The cherry blossoms are so much nicer in the flesh, as it were. Come while I'm still here!!!!!
ReplyDeleteC'mon Vik. You are not going anywhere in a hurry.
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous are they, wonderful images Andrew :)
ReplyDeleteAll that pink! It's like being in Elton John's closet! Er...not that I'd know about that, of course...Sedgwick told me about it and then ran away.
ReplyDeleteSure are nice Cazzie.
ReplyDeleteIt is sooooo pwetty Brian.
Looks beautiful. The webcam link was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteStunning creation, another winner from Mother Nature :)
ReplyDeleteI must have too much time on my hands last year Lad. I watched them from bud to fallen off on the webcam.
ReplyDeleteShe can be beautiful but also cruel Jayne.
I think I mentioned last year how Hirosaki was voted the number 1 place in all of Japan to see the blossoms. Well according to the local paper, 300,000 people visited Hirosaki on Sunday - that's almost double the population of the city! Not bad for a place considered the backwater of Japan...
ReplyDeleteI don't recall that Vik, but it does not surprise me. The castle, the park and the river make a great setting.
ReplyDeleteThe mountain too. But perhaps you can't see that in the web cam. Vik.
ReplyDeleteMountain was on my mind Vik, but it slipped out as I typed. The camera can be directed to the mountain. I saw it last year I think.
