Could anyone with an artistic eye cast it over my new blog look and assure me that the colours are vaguely right? Actually, anyone is free to comment. Specifically, I am unsure about the colour of Highriser on the photo header and and the border green around the Flickr thingy. There is not a lot of choice of suitable colours there.
Andrew,
ReplyDeletePersonally I like the new design scheme. It's vibrant and lively and the photograph in the header is a classic. I have noticed, however, that the aforementioned photograph is slightly off to one side of the box behind it. This might just be down to my ancient monitor though.
Correct about the photo Brian. I tried to fix it, but it seems I can do nothing. It is an 'auto' thing.
ReplyDeleteI had the same problem on my board. I went into the HTML code and spent about fifteen hours with my tongue stuck out of the side of my mouth, sweating and panicking as I jiggled with the various bits of code. In the end I sorted it...but I'll never try again. Not without insurance anyhow.
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic to me.
ReplyDeleteYeah Brian. I decided it was just too hard. However, possible header photo update coming.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ren.
Love the pic and colours!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a shade darker for High Riser on the photo header - maybe an olive green to match the copper dome in the foreground of the pic?
To align the pic in the box is fiddly HTML mucky muck and a headache for a month , like Brian said lol.Tiny detail, no biggie to fret over. You can try to resize the pic to fit the box before uploading it, but really not necessary.
I love the colours, very elegant. Not too fussed on the shade of green around the flickr thing tho but if you can live with it, I can too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jayne and Jo. A fix maybe on its way.
ReplyDeleteI like the tones. They're similar to the "lower house" of parliament's seating colours. However, don't be afraid to variate every so often. As you know, I do so frequently.
ReplyDeleteYou need to edit your style sheets if you want to override the default header image. Do a find and replace for
ReplyDelete#header-inner {
background:url("http://www.blogblog.com/rounders4/bg_hdr_bot.jpg") no-repeat left bottom;
padding:0 15px 8px;
}
replace the url in the brackets with the URL of your picture, remove the image you added and volia! your image is now nicely aligned.
With the green around the Flickr box, I think it looks a bit funny. Maybe you could go for one of the colours already in the template. You can use your own rgb values when setting it up. Although it involves going into the page source/template and finding the appropriate colour value, so it's a bit fiddly to find it.
ReplyDeleteI had a look and in your template the sidebar background is #779988.
Just plug that into the background colour in the Flickr badge maker, and you will have the same colour background as the sidebar. Assuming that is what you are going for.
I am not much of one for rearranging furniture Reuben. I think the same goes for my blog. It is in its third look.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bobby. One reader emailed me a solution and I will view both hers and yours with a clinical eye tomorrow.
I know that colour around Flickr is really wrong Ben. I now understand about the colour thing. Much obliged.
Thumbs up for High Riser on the photo header; stands out nice and clear (even to a blind old bat like me ) lol :)
ReplyDeleteI am visually impaired friendly in my blog, and also personally much more attractive.
ReplyDeleteMy LCD screen on my laptop (which is still down!) would show it up differently to my antiquated old banger, which makes many colours look a bit off. But, yours still looks really nice. The greens are soft and restful.
ReplyDeleteThe High Riser Shows up as more grey on mine. Maybe try the colour code (#BBCCAA) from your pale background. or don't, cos it's great anyway.............
I look at mine and think I must have a go, as I build a few simple sites for people, but I'm too lazy right now.
While I have a few colours to choose from Bliss, I can't actually change that colour to anything other than I have. Your old one is a crt monitor? Not great compared to lcd are then. Thanks for the nice words.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that the header looks great.
ReplyDeleteBit late I know but I really like your header update. The outlined type looks great and combined with the image reminds me of a postcard. Love it.
ReplyDeleteMost kind Ben and LiD.
