Public Art 2

This is not real folks. Do not try this at home. This mural had disappeared behind trees and ivy and I had forgotten it was there. The demolishing of Kings Cross Plaza has revealed it once more. I am guessing that I haven't seen it for ten years or more. It won't last long now with the weather on it.

  1. I live in this city and I don't remember this. How do you know it is KX Plaza? The plaza is on the corner of Darlinghurst, Bayswater and if I remember correctly Kings Cross Road (above the freeway). This is more likely to be in Bayswater Road. I'd be interested to know more.

  2. I know that plaza in the Cross well, but this one is in Melbourne, opposite where Kingsway joins St Kilda Road, hence the name.

  4. Hey Andrew, do you mind if I add this to my map of old signs? I know it's not strictly a sign, but it's my map and I can break the rules whenever I want to.

  8. Many thanks for posting this Andrew! I'd completely forgotten about this mural. I remember first seeing it in about 1978.

  10. I remember that.
I used to shop there when I worked opposite in 414 St.Kilda Rd before it was demolished.

The artist must be sad about subsequent events
