Back to the zoo

It has taken me this long to post these cards we collected when we followed the elephant trail. I had forgotten how to scan, then arrange and turn things into publishable jpg files. I eventually worked it out today but my lack of skills show. There are three different files to click on.

  1. We were there about three weeks ago for Larry's birthday. It's pretty impressive these days, the zoo. I went to the San Diego Zoo about twenty years ago and the Melbourne Zoo is getting towards that standard.

  2. Interesting. I always thought Melbourne was up there with the best of them and had been for a long time. Seems not.

  3. I went to the Melbourne Zoo a little over a year ago, for the first time in probably 10 years, and I've got to say I was very disappointed. Perhaps my standards were too high, but most of the enclosures seemed small and very unnatural. I can see how it is improving though. The new elephant enclosure was great, however one of the elephants appeared to be having some sort of "episode". It was just standing there rocking from side to side, with a group of zoo keepers standing around scratching their heads about what to do.

  4. I was only disappointed by the central round bed that used to be flowers and now is only strappy plants. Otherwise, I thought it was pretty good. As soon as I read 'rocking from side to side', I recalled elephants swaying. Isn't that what they do normally?
