Famous Faces

I have seen a few famous people around recently. Here is a list.

Michael Klim, swimmer, walking along the Yarra riverbank at Southbank. He is one big, solid bloke. Very nicely casually dressed. Actually, R saw him coming, I only saw the rear view. Jeans sat perfectly.

Paul McDermott, comedian. I sat opposite him in a tram in Brunswick Street. He was busy texting on his mobile. Looked quite good, even without tv makeup. He obviously supports public transport. Gone up a notch in my estimation.

Derryn Hinch, broadcaster. Fellow building resident. See him often. He is quite slim now, but walks a bit funny. If you read somwhere that 3AW chauffers him to work, wrong. He walks out the front and gets a cab for what is a ten minute walk.

Geoff Morell, actor. Fellow building resident. He stays here when he is in Melbourne filming. Known to me from a tv show called Grass Roots, but I believe he is in Blue Heelers now. Great actor.

Sam Newman, ex football player. Owns an apartment in our building where his ex and their child live. Seen him a couple of times. C*** in my opinion. PS. Saw him today in Glenferrie Rd, Malvern doing interviews for whatever the show is on tv that he is in. Funny, I saw so many people crossing the road to avoid him.

Famous ex ballerina. Fellow building resident. I don't know her name, but I have seen her on tv.

Robert Doyle. State Opposition Party Leader. Outside his electoral office in Glenferrie Rd, Malvern. Had tv make-up on. His face glowed, unlike his policies.

John Thwaites, State Parliament local member. He and his family were at the Farmer's Market, Peanut Farm, St Kilda. Natural sorta bloke, but still, he is a politician.

Christine Nixon, Police Commisioner. Outside the St Kilda Rd Police Station. Think she would be good at what we used to play at school, hoppo bumpo.

Darren Ray, City of Port Phillip Mayor. Can't remember where. Stress, not the Melbourne Uni D Ray who has a questionable history.

Peter Logan, local ward councillor. Had a meeting with him. Suspected tory, but does really care about his ward and city.

Ian (Molly) Meldrum, music afficionado. At a bar.

Barry Jones, ex politician. On a tram when travelling to the city. Trying to pick up perhaps, or maybe he is just a friendly bloke.

Barry Jones' wife. Pottering in her garden on a street that I travel on often.

Red Symons, broadcaster, Brunswick Street. Sort of grown up with him really.

Dr Hugh Wirth, RSPCA President, Midsumma Carnival dog show judge. Is the unmarried Doctor gay? Don't ask me, I don't know.

Sigrid Thornton, actor, Balalcava, shopping, drives an older black BMW. Classy chick.

Personal friend, often seen. President of some agricultural org and tory ex pollie in first NT parliament. Nice and decent guy, in spite of his politics (I cowardly never talk politics with him. Just some times call him comrade).

I would never be gauche enought to shriek, oh, look, there is ........ but I do get a kick out of seeing celebs around town. Feel free to ad your own celeb spotting.

Updates and a bad tenant

Here are some updates to my blog, as I can remember, of what I never finished.

The table with seats along the side that finishes at a wall is called a banquette. I prefer to call it a snug or a booth.

The cannibalized bicycle is still there.

The Nylex clock is still not working.

I am very interested in someone setting up a web site about Melbourne's public art.

We have informed the body corp committee that we are not re-nominating for the committee at this year's AGM. Disappointment expressed, as expected. No matter.

On the matter of body corporate, a tenant moved out of an apartment at the weekend. It was what we refer to as an illegal move, as he did not notify the building manager, so that lift protection could be put up and other arrangements made. He caused around $1000 damage to a exit fire door, stole a $160 floor mat, scraped paintwork and dumped two old couches in the laneway behind our building. A police report was made, photos taken, security footage viewed. I am not sure what will happen about the door damage, but he has returned the mat and has promised to remove the couches. Yet people wonder why body corp fees go up and hence their rent. It is partly due to the buildings poor claim record over the past year. The buildings insurers have increased the premium by a few thousand dollars.

Michael Jackson

I am very sad about Michael Jackson.

I liked his music, his dancing and performing and even his looks, sort of at one point. What a sad tradgedy he now is.

Whether he fiddled the kiddies or not, is not just what I am on about. It is the weird behaviour, weird clothing and absolutely scary looks. I would be embarrassed to be seen in the street with him. Can't turn back the clock, but I wonder if he wishes he could?

Very disappointing.
